ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ, Moloney labe (Greek: Μολὼν λαβέ - come, take; approximate Greek pronunciation Molon labe, modern Greek - Moloni lavi) - a "winged" phrase, the legendary response of the Spartan king Leonidas I.
According to legend, the phrase was uttered under the following circumstances. During the campaign of Xerxes I to Greece during the Greco-Persian wars, Xerxes sent a messenger to Thermopylae with two words: "lay down your arms." Leonidas replied laconically: "come and take."
